Members participate in meetings and projects according to their own interests and capabilities. Some of our projects are: holding workshops on labour rights and organizing, the list of shame, creating information material, advising workers, First of May celebration and more.
Members are more than welcome to create their own project. Everyone in the union, including the officers are volunteers. Officers are elected by the members and any member can become an officer.
Members of the IWW Ísland have access to the Solidarity Fund. The fund provides financial aid (up to 10.000kr) for members in need no questions asked. It is funded by a percentage of the dues. IWW membership for three months or more entitles members to access the fund once a year. The solidarity committee can also organise further financial aid if a member requests it. IWW Ísland has a subscription to Heimildin for our members to collect articles on workplaces for our list of shame.
Our current dues rates according to income after tax are:
0 – 100.000kr: 400kr per month
100.001 – 400.000kr: 800kr per month
400.001 – 700.000kr: 1500kr per month
over 700.000: 3000kr per month
